Right before Maddie went on dialysis today, she had a little bit of urine output, as dialysis started, she had a little more, her last diaper change netted some pretty good output, we're optimistic about tomorrow. The dialysis could have gone smoother in my opinion, but I have to keep in mind that they are using the drain catheter instead of a dialysis specific one. There have been some problems with the line getting clotted, but they've been able to work through that and I think they're starting to get more out than they are putting in, which is ideal. My guess is though, should they decide to continue dialysis, they may decided to change the, or add a new catheter that will perform better.
The length of time that she will be on dialysis depends on a few things, urine output being one, but more importantly will be the lab results of the blood draws they continue to monitor.
