Sorry for the delayed updates but things have been pretty busy here lately... I will work on getting that second half of Madeline's birth story up soon -there's a lot to say! Check out the pic of Maddie cuddling with one of her Grandpa's!
Madeline has been having visits every week from the occupational therapist, physical therapist and twice a week from her nurse who monitors her BP. The appts are a bit overwhelming but whatever is needed to help Madeline!
Blood pressures have been pretty good- Her weight gain has been so so- She loses a little and then gains it back during the week- At this point she is 11lbs 6oz - I think we realized this week that she could be doing better with weight gain when we caught up with another NICU mom who's baby was born weighing 4lbs or so and now weights almost 12lbs -she is a week younger than Madeline. We worry about her growth a lot.
Her weekly appts with the therapist(s) have been going ok. They would like her to see her reaching more for her knees and feet, bringing hands together, hands in the mouth, bringing her thumbs out from under her fingers, putting weight on her elbows and bringing hands together on sides, holding objects- etc. We feel like she is doing/working on many of those things and improving nicely.
Things are progressing and we are thankful for everyday. We were out and about this weekend and ended up having a conversation with a woman whose daughter also is getting a kidney transplant- but she is 34 ..her and her daughter shared with us that she was diagnosed with a serious disease at age 14- and that Dr's said she had no hope but now she is 34! They could relate to what we are going through- her daughter gets dialysis on a regular basis and she said (with tear filled eyes) that she was going to think of Madeline every time she goes now. It is just amazing to us how Madeline has touched so many people in so many ways. God must really have special plans for her as she has affected the lives of so many people already! We don't mean that in a pompous way - like our daughter is better or more special than anyone else-just that we feel she is going to have the opportunity to do good things and help others -and hopefully bring glory to God through all of it.
Adalee update- Adalee came home from the hospital last week- Hooray! We do not know much details beyond that - While in the hospital we know she was silently aspirating -but we are not sure if that was resolved or what was done.. we are hoping to get the 'roomies' together for a reunion soon - so hopefully we will have more details soon-
Thanks for all the continued prayers from the bottom of our hearts!
