The many sides of Madeline..
Quick update..
Madeline went to the Gastroenterologist this week and he believes she has an allergy to her formula.. Blood in the stool..vomiting etc.. all signs.. So they switched her formula to alementum..it smells terrible. .and I would prefer her again not to be on formula period but I have explored several options (goats milk..etc) and none of the options i have researched appear to be plausible at the moment.
She started to puke less/gain weight- Then yesterday she had a runny nose, started puking a lot, had significant amount of diarrhea, was super crabby and very thirsty *this started sounding a lot like the last time we were in the hospital at the beginning of march*- so we were definitely concerned- Mainly that we would have to wait until she gets better and then start over again to get a new baseline to see how the formula was working -she also lost weight yesterday..
Now this morning she seemed to be back to her usual happy self..some diarrhea a little puke but nothing major.. yet by 2 pm she was extremely cranky practically falling asleep on the spot (despite having slept from 12:15-1:15 already) and puked (only just a little) right after her 2 pm med. They took her vitals and temp was fine but Blood Pressure was up..They said it could be because she was crying but I think the fact that she was so sleepy was a good indicator of an elevated BP prior to the crying stint..She fell back asleep about 3:25p and now I am not sure what to think. The Dr. came by earlier and said she seemed back to normal and that if she keeps doing good we will go home soon (what is soon ?). But given the state of things this afternoon I am uncertain of the near future. I will be curious to see if she has gained/maintained/or lost today. It's a bit frustrating not having a regular "team" here the whole time like we are used to so that we have a Dr. that is familiar with the overall state of things..Maybe we will talk to her nephrologist et al on monday?
We are very tired and stressed. The last 10 days has been hospital .work.home.sleep-or some sort of combination of those things. No time for anything else. Can't speak for the husband but this is wearing on the system. Feels like robot mode-know what I mean?
But all in all we know things could be considerably worse so we must thank God for his blessings -good friends and family who support us and our sweet Madeline who has a smile that makes everything else fade away and seem so insignificant.
We will post more as we know more thanks! God Bless!
