Tuesday takes the cake

Hola everyone

This past Tuesday madeline was admitted to the hospital we thought she was dehydrated from a lot of puking but it turns out she was even more sick than that.

The doctors decided to do a direct admit and ran a bunch of tests on her-it turns out she has rsv. This is a respiratory virus and she just has to ride it out.

For several days she has been coughing a lot-had blood pressures that have been up and down high heart rate- fever and puking. She has gone back and forth between iv fluids and pedialyte. Today we have her on a mix of Pedialyte and formula if she does well eventually we can move back to her normal feeds and hope to be home tomorrow. As you can see from the pictures she has been pretty miserable this is the sickest she has been in a long thankfully she has kept her spirits about her.

The positive part of being in the hospital has been that we are able to do a lot of the testing that is required for her kidney transplant while she is here. We are also working on getting mom an appointment to start getting tested as well to see if she is a match for Madeline.

The hardest part about being in the hospital for more than a few days is always the balancing of our other commitments maintaining our house and trying to get home everyday to cook meals and not spend all our money on eating out while we are here. Besides. The selection at the hospital is pretty dismal and we much prefer our own cooking.

Next week assuming she is out she will have an appointment with a geneticist to evaluate her on a few things.

Overall everyone is keeping their spirits up we just want Madeline to feel better she has been sick for about 10 weeks straight now between having the flu and strep and other illness.

We continue to feel uplifted by our friends and family who encourages us and help us where they can we are most grateful. We are thankful that God continues to watch over our little family. We would not be able to do this without his love and compassion for us.

We hope that everyone is having a blessed holiday season !

  2. I don't know you personally, but I have prayed for Madeline every single day since the day she was born and will continue to do so. Tricia Troyer is my granddaughter's sister-in-law. You certainly have been through a great deal and have handled it with so much strength and courage. God bless all of you!
