Established renal failure, that was the update today. Basically that means that there is no secondary issue causing the kidneys not to function. They stopped giving her the Lasix, which was the medicine they were using to try and jump start her kidneys and with that, her urine output has gone from little to none. The plan for today is to continue trying to keep her blood PH balanced, BP lower, keep her comfortable, and hope for her kidneys to repair themselves.
The good news of the day is that Rachael got to hold Madeline again. It was quite the task too! With all the wires and tubes and gizmos hooked up to Maddie, it took 2 nurses about 10 minutes to get her all wrapped up and ready to hold. It did seem to calm her down some though, which is great, and also very beneficial to mom!
Well while it isn't great news, at least you have an answer. It's better than trying to figure out what's wrong and not knowing, worrying about it. Now that you have a diagnosis, the doctors can come up with a plan to help little Madeline get better. And that picture is beautiful! Rachael, you look great, and baby Madeline does look like she's enjoying it. :)

ReplyDeleteMadeline is a treasure as I am sure that you know. You are treasures as well and just as you got to hold Madeline in your arms the Lord above is holding you as well. Rest in His love and be assured that you are supported in prayer.
