Ok - I know there's a lot of pictures on here -But we couldn't choose just one! These are all pics from day of life 21. The last picture is a picture of a doozer from fraggle rock because we think Madeline looks like a doozer!
Anyways- Updates... Madeline was taken off the Dialysis yesterday. They removed the line where they did the dialysis and gave her stitches to keep the area closed up. They let me hold down her legs while they gave her lidocaine and stitched her up- I thought I was going to pass out!
The good part was that we were able to hold her after that! We held her two times yesterday- It was very encouraging.
Now they are monitoring her kidney functioning/feeds/ and the Dr. said they would order and MRI for sometime this week to began looking at what type of brain damage she may have from her original insult (the birth).
She is maintaining a steady urine output which is good. They are monitoring the levels of chemicals in her blood. Her BUN has continued to decrease which is good, but her Creatin has increased - which is not good. So they will keep an eye on that. They are increasing her feeds from 3 cc's of breastmilk per hour through a drip to 5 cc's per hour, to see how she will tolerate it. I asked the Dr. if she could try a bottle again and she said that would be ok so we will ask the nurse about that today. I also asked if we would be able to do kangaroo care which is the skin to skin care they do directly after birth. She said that would be fine- it will be nice to finally do - it's hard to believe it's been over 3 weeks since she has been born and this will be the first time we get to hold her and let her skin feel our skin- We are excited.
So today is a good day- Thank you all for the ongoing prayers I know they have helped. Maddie is so lucky to have such a support team behind her! We plan on telling her every day and reminding her how loved she is. Thank you all for helping in the many unique and different ways you have. Everyone has been so understanding and doing everything they can to help us. I want to make sure everyone knows how much it means to us and how much we appreciate it.
One more prayer request- Please pray for Everett- who also went in around the same time Maddie did. He has Hypo Plastic Left heart syndrome- which is where the left side of his heart is severely under developed. Read more about it here . His parents have not yet been able to hold him and at this point in time he has not had feeds due to there being blood in his stool- however they cannot find the reason for the blood in the stool. They had to tie down/restrain his arm because he keeps moving his arm and it interferes with his breathing tube/etc. I know it makes him unhappy and is very hard for his parents to watch him like this. They keep him very sedated which is also hard for his parents, Neal and Kristen to watch. Please pray for super human healing for this little guy!
No updates on Adalee yet today -we will check with her parents when we see her- Please pray for a miracle for her as her condition is very serious.
We have not seen 'S' in a few days but last time we saw her they said she may be going home in a few days so we are hoping that's where she is now!
Thanks for love and prayers for us and all these families!
God Bless
