Day of Life #29

Post is a little late again- Spent most of the morning with Madeline then time to pump, grab lunch, then back with Madeline for feeding, then a visitor, now back to Madeline and now I am sitting back here with her again as I write this blog. (Then time to pump and feed again! tight schedule here!).

Madeline seems to be doing much better today in terms of comfort. While she has had some outbursts/discomfort she is comforted much more easily and has slept much of the day.

They increased her feeds to 40 cc's today. At 9 am we tried breast feeding but she was only interested for about 5-10 minutes with the breast shield, then we tried bottle and she took about 6 cc's- the rest went down the ng tube. At 12pm we just did bottle only and she took about 15 cc's without crying ( a first!) and the rest went down the tube again.

Her Creatanine went down very slightly again but we will take it! Her BUN went up slightly which is not what we want (we want it to go down) but the Dr's say it isn't anything to be too worried about. So hopefully both will go down tomorrow. I think we are on road to recovery here.

No word on UTI yet- they will get a report at 24 hrs (so within the next hr or so) , 48, and 72 hrs to report if anything has grown on the culture.

Taking pepsid- not sure when we will start seeing signs of that working.

They will start giving one of her blood pressure meds down ng tube now instead of through IV which is supposed to be better for her and is good because the med is not compatible with some other meds so giving it to her orally will help loosen up on any limitations they might have with other meds they could possibly have to give her.

Everything seems pretty stable right now just waiting for improvements. Hopefully she will remain comfortable and keep recovering. Our super big dream/wish is that she would be able to come home on Dad's birthday (August 10th) what a present that would be! We know it is probably unlikely but we can hope right?

Included pic shows the new hat Renae (Adalee's mom) made for Maddie! Adalee will have a matching one too! I am hoping we can walk Madeline over to Adalee's crib when they both have their hats on sometime and snap a pic. Best Buds! Thanks Renae! Now if Madeline's lazy mom could get to work on finish knitting her blanket!

Prayers for Adalee: Her increased feeds have been going OK- pray that they improve and that she processes everything. Blood pressure was a little on high side today. Pray it goes down and for overall health- Thanks so much-We love this little girl!
