Day of Life #47

Another Late post again- sorry it's been a very busy day!

Madeline's umbilical cord finally came off.. can you believe it took this long? Turns out it is not healed underneath - she has a granuloma -which is defined by wikipedia (i know -not a very reliable definition but whatever)- as " "Granuloma is a medical term for a roughly spherical mass of immune cells that forms when the immune system attempts to wall off substances that it perceives as foreign but is unable to eliminate. Such substances include infectious organisms such as bacteria and fungi as well as other materials such askeratin and suture fragments.^[1][2][3] A granuloma is therefore a special type of inflammation that can occur in a wide variety of diseases.Doctors occasionally use the term "granuloma" loosely to mean "a small nodule". Since a small nodule can represent anything from a harmless nevus to a malignant tumor, this usage of the term is not very specific. The correct use of the term granuloma" requires a pathologist to examine surgically removed and specially colored (stained) tissue under a microscope."

So they are using silver nitrate to treat it and see if it will heal.. They do not seem very concerned about it.

Madeline's blood pressure's are lower today but not as low as the doctor's would like to see so they increased her dosages of meds. If she does not come down like they want by the end of the weekend they will put her back on an iv drip - let's hope that's not the case!!

Other than that she's been sleeping a lot and pretty cranky today- feeds are OK . She took 80 at 9 am, 40cc at 12 pm and 50 at 6pm -- so she's up and down.

Adalee- I know she had an eye exam yesterday but we did not get a chance to talk to mom and dad about the results.

Everett-Talked with mom a bit today- he is doing ok he is still being weaned off ventilator and seems to be managing ok- Let's pray he gets off soon and mom and dad get to hold him!

We are so thankful for everything and everyone- we know God has blessed us through all this- We have nothing but praise for God for what he has brought us and others through.
