Day of Life #55-Prayer Requests

I am sad to say this morning that another baby on the NICU has passed away...Kristopher was 6 months old and spent his whole life in the NICU- First in Florida then he was transferred up here. His mom and I had a few conversations prior to his passing and I could see that this family was strong. His mom told me that Doctor's told her she would never have a baby, then she became pregnant, they told her she wouldn't carry her baby past 23 weeks- she made it to 26 wks, and when they extubated Kristopher they told her that he wouldn't survive extubation- but he did. No matter what the doctor's said, Lena (mom) and Dad trusted that God would prove the odd's wrong and he did. We don't understand why God decided that it was time for Kristopher to be with him, but he did -and we are just asking for prayers for their family. Please pray for strength and peace during this extremely difficult time. It doesn't seem fair that he is not here anymore, but we know that God has a plan. When I saw mom this morning she said that Kristopher was God's child first and that she trusts that God has a plan for her life. This is a beautiful, strong family. Please pray that God could ease the pain and provide them many more blessings in the future. Mom said she would send me a pic when she was able for you all to see. My heart is breaking for this family this morning. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers....

Madeline is doing well, she had a calm night and ate, and her bp stayed under control. We are going over the discharge paperwork today and will be rooming in tomorrow. We have a million thoughts and feelings running through our minds, but mostly relief. The long road is ending yet but still beginning in so many ways...at least for now we can take her home and keep her happy and healthy until it is time for her transplant.

Good news for Everett! He was not on the CPAP machine all night AND they removed the ventilator from his room ! Mom and dad are asking for prayers for his lungs so that they can lower his oxygen flow and start his feeds. Once he is on feeds they can convert his medications from a drip line to oral medication and take out his central line. All of these things need to happen for him to be able to come home. Please pray for all of these things to happen.

As always thank you-all of us parents have found so much comfort in strength in the love and support from all of you. God is taking care of us but all of you are our angels helping us to get by each hurdle! You are all amazing!
