Happy Birthday At Home

Sorry for such a delayed post!

Madeline came home the night before her birthday (July 3rd) . She had a nice birthday at home with her family, godparents and a few close friends. It was such a blessing to have her home!

Her week went pretty well -but on Tuesday the following week she ended up back in the hospital. She had been having a bit of a cold and tuesday evening she had a fever. Fearing that she may have contracted another line infection her Dr advised we bring her into the ER that night. So from 1am-6am we hung out in the ER taking turns snuggling Madeline on the single bed and sleeping across two chairs. Needless to say mom and dad were pretty pooped the following day. They drew some blood cultures and urine cultures and everything turned up roses! Turns out she just was sick.. like every other kid gets.. .

So on Friday evening she came home again. Since then she has gotten yet another cold but is pretty happy! There are a few episodes of large vomiting, and we are still getting up multiple times a night to either fix her feeding pump, change her diaper (this kid pees more than anyone I have ever met!) , or clean up puke/shower her. But at least she is home . We seem to have become even better at catching her dehydration ..now we call the doctor EVERY time she pukes no matter how large or small- we have been going back and forth with pedialyte regimens which seem to keep her under control.

Her GI doctor wants her to switch to a different formula as soon as she is not sick and at 100%. He would like to move her to something with more calories per ounce but we are nervous as she is so sensitive to change. We also need to work on getting her to start eating real food but it is hard as her gag reflex is so strong and she is puking up everything we try to give her.. and again every time she pukes is more fluid loss and with as easily as she becomes dehydrated ..it's a difficult balance. She should be starting up speech therapy again soon so hopefully we can work on that. Also her appointment is Columbus is next week and hopefully that will give us insight as well.

Soo all things considered we seem to be back to her version of normal (crosses fingers). Pray she stays out of the hospital long enough to make it to her appointment next week!

If you could please also say a special prayer for a few other people we know- One is Madeline's friend Savannah we met in the hospital who has returned after getting an infection after surgery. Praise God the infection was centralized and they seem to be treating it ok- but the sooner she could get home the better!!

The Becker Family- Recently celebrated a year since Baby Everett was born- they did a balloon release in memory of him and held a gathering of close friends and family- it was really nice. Keep them in your prayers for comfort and God to bless their Family.

Baby Adalee turns a year old next week ! Praise God and continue to pray that she thrives and shows everyone what a miracle she is!! And that she stays out of the hospital!!

Madeline's Great Grandma was recently hospitalized and the doctors found gall stones, a tumor in her esophagus, a mass on her liver, and blood clots in her lungs. They did a biopsy to find out if it is cancer but it is looking like it very well could be. At her age surgery is not an option neither is chemo. Please pray for her and all of our family as we deal with this news. .Pray that God's will be done and that we are able to accept that whatever it is. It is a very difficult time for all.

There have been a few trials as of late but we know that God has a plan and if we just trust in him he will work it out to his glory.

Thank you all for helping us through this first year!

  2. Just wanted to write to keep encouraging you all on your journey. You two are wonderful parents and Maddie is such a fighter. Keep the faith. Keep speaking God's promises over her and expecting HIM to move big in your little girl. He is the GOD who heals. I know its hard not to get down sometimes, but just keep praising HIM during the storm and KEEP listening to the voice of truth over all the negative reports. We pray with you for Maddie's complete healing.
