Dad's Birthday!... In the hospital again.

"Oh Hai evry1! It's meh! I'm back in the joint again!"

Yup that's right, baby belle is back at Rainbow, she spiked a fever and got admitted for another possible line infection, and as it turns out, we just got word that her culture came back positive. Oh brother!

So not a ton has happened since we last posted, however, we did get down to Nationwide Children's hospital to see Dr. Carlo De Lorenzo. It was a very good visit as he had done his homework in as much as he was very familiar with her charts, previous workups, and had spoken at length with her Gastroenterologist. After consulting with us for about 45 minutes he told us that he believed Madeline's issue was a sensory issue of the gut, and that it is most likely a direct result of her hypoxic aschemic encephalopy at birth because if you took away all of her other issues, she would not have this issue alone. So how do we treat it? Well, there are a number of drugs available that can assist in this case, we'll be starting small and working our way up if we don't see results, however, it is possible that none of the drugs will work to 'numb' her stomach from the pain and nausea she suffers from when volume or formula concentration is increased. If none of them work, he said she most likely will grow out of it, but nothing is ever a 'sure thing'.

Aside from that, things have still been tough, but we're all working through it. Madeline decided to yank her G/J tube out yesterday so Dr. Garcia replaced it with a G-tube for now, but we're going to try and keep her on only the G-tube, hopefully this medicine she's starting will help make that a reality.

Thanks for all the continued prayers and help with everything, we couldn't do this by ourselves.

  1. Oh how my heart goes out to you all. We, The DeSantis Gang, will continue to lift you all up in prayer to our heavenly father. For complete healing for your baby belle and for strength for you and Ron! We struggle with you and truly feel its a spiritual battle. Keep fighting the good fight of faith for your little angel. Keep professing the promises of God's word no matter what the medical report says. NOTHING is bigger than our GOD! Listen to the voice of TRUTH, read the word over her, claim those promises. Remember, HE is strongest in our weakness. Its okay to rest in HIM, HE actually commands us to REST in HIM...I am sure you and Ron need that rest right about now. We haven't met but I feel so connected to the three of you. God bless you tonight.
