Terrible Tuesdays

Well we have a bit to share today .. I apologize for not updating during our last stay.. the business of life got the best of UA !!

As it turned out Madeline actually had ANOTHER line infection So the decision was made to take it out and not replace as they decided to move blood draws to every two weeks ..the doctors were thinking there wouldn't be much need for a meda port and we could reduce her hospital admissions.
So on Oct 6th she was released .. that following Friday (12) she caught a cold and has not seemed able to shake it since

She is puking more (from choking on phlegm.. ) coughing constantly and crabby .. we took her to pcp last Thursday and he said she was OK but over the weekend we felt she was getting worse.. then late Sunday /Monday she had a slight fever ..then today (which happens to be Tuesday..which seems to be the day ordained to be admission day) she was much worse crying all day ..puking and generally upset ..also fever ...we discussed her symptoms with her doctor and they asked us to bring her to the er...

That in itself was a feat. Mom left work and it was pouring rain/barely visible on the road ..then the road was blocked by a car accident ..then arrived at babysitters house only to realize dad had the car seat..waited for him ..then lost car keys.. found car keys and made it to rainbow all in one piece !

However it was a two hour wait in the waiting room of the er and now we still have not gotten a room on the floor (we arrived at 3 ..it is now 945p ) and we are told it may be a while longer before we get a room ..

I know you are wondering why she is being admitted.. it is because after a chest X-ray
Blood and urine cultures.. the initial blood tests show an elevated CBC (white blood cells ) and crp( I have no idea) which is an indicator of infection .. to be safe they are starting her on the antibiotic zosen and are admitting her until all the cultures are back and they know for sure about infection and type ... that will determine length of stay
